Foshan: brief description for tourists who wish to visit Foshan In the south of China, its situated Foshan, a central city of Guangdong Province, not far from Guangzhou and has a population of about 7,2 million people. Foshan is composed of 5 districts: Chancheng, Shunde, San-shui, Nanhai District, and Gaoming. The seat of government is situated in the district Chancheng. Foshan has a long history that dates back some 5,000 years. It took its name from the 3 statues of Buddha found in this area during the Tang dynasty. The most famous attractions of Foshan are the Ancestor's Temple and the Sanshui Lotus World (the biggest theme park green lotus in the world, with over 300 types diversified lotuses). Another attraction is the Qinghui Garden, acknowledged as one of the 4 most important gardens of Guangdong and ranked in the top ten gardens in China. It was constructed under the guidance of a landscape advisor of the Ming Dynasty. Other interesting attractions are also Xiqiao Mountain and the Nanhai Kwan-yin Temple.
