Chengdu: brief description for tourists who wish to visit Chengdu Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is located in the southwest China. The urban area has an elevation of about 500 metres and sits on the fertile Chengdu Plain. Chengdu is one of the major cities in China, has a population of about 14 million inhabitants, and has been a key player in Chinese history. Chengdu is famous for its "Shu Brocade", one of the most important cultural heritages in China, more than 2,000 years of hand-woven brocade craft (we suggest visit the Chengdu Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum). For visitors Chengdu is also the "land of giant panda". Actually there are about 180 panda, protected and assisted with great care in the Wolong Panda Reserve, under the control and supervision of "Conservation Center for the Giant Panda". The Wolong Panda Reserve is visitable from tourists. Some Chengdu attractions: Sanxingdui (Three-Star Piles) Museum, the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, Baoguang Temple, Qingyang Temple, Wangjiang Tower Park and so more. The climate is humid subtropical climate (monsoon-influenced), the best periods to visit Chengdu are from March to June otherwise from September to November.
