Guangzhou (Canton), located in in the Pearl River delta, is the third popular tourist destination in China and is also the principal centre for economic trade in China. Guangzhou (also called Canton) is located in in the Pearl River delta and is the third popular tourist destination in China. Today Guangzhou is also the principal centre for economic trade in China. Guangzhou holds Canton Fair, the biggest import and export fair, the bigger attraction for business tourists. The climate here is pleasant and the overall temperature is 22.8 degrees approximately. Usually the months from October to December and from April to May are the most pleasant to visit Guanzhou.
The city has a rich history and was run by Zhou dynasty (11th Century BC). In the times of Han and Qin dynasties, the city was quite prosperous. The port at Guangzhou is also famous for its traffic with foreign countries and is the first port in China for number of contaniners. Guangzhou has also many attractions for traditional tourists and boasts of many beautiful places like the Yuexiu Park, Chimelong resort, White Cloud Mountain, Lianhua hill tourist resort and many more.
Ancestral Chen Clan Temple
The ancestral temple is worth visiting and is a beautiful structure that was built by Emperor Guangxu’s reign and comprises of 19 buildings of various sizes. The structure is the largest and the oldest in China and is also well preserved artistic building in the province. The ancestral temple was also elected in the top eight sights in Guanzhou. The place has woodcarvings that are colored in several colors which are bright and vibrant. It is fantastically decorated and has various brick carvings along with pottery sculptures.
White Cloud Mountain
The place is located in the south of the city and is very popular in south Guangdong. The place is considered an important tourist’s destination as it is rated as the top spot of the eight sites in the Guanzhou province. The white cloud comprises of 30 peaks and provides great panoramic view of the city below along with the Pearl River. The best time to view is during the late spring, when the mountains are covered in fluffy white clouds and are very picturesque view. Watch the three main spots of Shanbei, Lihu and Shanding, which are covered with green carpet and is a very breathtaking view.
South china Botanical garden
The south china Botanical garden is a modern structure built on an area of 333 hectors and is the third biggest botanical gardens in china. Here you will find plants of around 5,000 different species and is recognized as top ten attractions in Guangzhou. Tourists can admire the bamboo plants area, shady forest nature reserve, medicinal plants are, palms area, aquatic plants area and many more.
Mausoleum of Nanyue king
Another fantastic attraction in Gangzhou is the mausoleum of Nanyue king. It has a history of over 2,000 years and was discovered only in 1983. This is very place where the second king of Nanyue state, named Zhao Mei was buried. It is a huge structure and comprises of 20 meters of coffin chamber under the Xianggang hill. The whole construction was built with 500 red sandstones. You can see various items of the Zhao Mei like the jade suit, nine seals, ten iron swords, jade ornaments and many funerary objects. These displayed articles are worth seeing.
Yuexiu Park
The place is also a modern creation and was built in 1952. The park is known for its beautiful sceneries and has many cultural relics. You will also see the beautiful artificial lakes and the attractive seven hills. The lake is great for fishing and boating and the garden is always filled with various flowers that enhance the beauty of the garden.
