Guilin: brief description for tourists who wish to visit Guilin In the south of China, it's located Guilin, one of main tourists destination in China, famous for its beautiful landscape. It's situated in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and has a population of 1,3 million people. The River Li, the main waterway of Guilin, winds through rolling hills, flowing gently between green fields. Most tourists visit Guilin doing a little cruise on the Li River (starting the morning and return in the afternoon). It is the best way to savor and enjoy fully the view of the typical landscape of Guilin, one of the finest existing in the world. The typical rolling hills of Guilin, from rounded and soft shapes, took this form due to karst erosion. If you're lucky, you can watch the fishing with cormorants on the Li River, with the Guilin hills in the background. If this scene takes place at sunset, it is really one of the most exciting shows that you can attend. Within the Guilin hills there are caves, each one unique shapes, sizes and effects of stalactites and stalagmites. Among Li River, there are also some very nice place, like the Fubo Hills, famous for its 6 wonders: cultural relics, waters, hills, courts, caves and stones. In the neighborhood of Guilin, about 40 km distance, there is the Ling Canal, built from 219BC to 214 BC, by the reign of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. This canal is one of the oldest and the most well conserved in the world.
