Guangdong Youth Hostel (Swan Pool Hotel in Chinese) is a 5-story state-owned riverside holiday inn on Shamian Island, Guangzhou, the largest city in South China.
With a very competitive room rates and more importantly, a romantic and cozy flair, the hostel is second to none in the old town, featuring a beautiful river view, a picturesque colonial setting of Shamian Island and enjoying close proximity to Xi'guan area, an old city quarter penetrated with stylish old buildings, tourist spots and specialized markets.
The hostel is the former site of the Polish Consulate General to Guangzhou before the founding of PRC. In the early 1980s, the old building was refurbished into a hostel. In a time of entry restrictions to foreigners, Guangdong Youth Hostel, among only a few hotels, had the authority to serve foreign tourists.
The hostel offers everything foreign tourists may expect, a solar water heated bathroom, a hairdressing room, a nice lounge to meet friends, a closed-door meeting room to clinch business deals and a convenient store to get a cup of coffee and a sandwich.
The hostel is very close to Metro 1 and 6. Many destinations in town and the bordering Foshan City may be reached in a matter of half an hour.
