Yining: brief description for tourists who wish to visit Yining
Yining is the capital of the Yili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, and is located in the west of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is one of three border land port cities in Xinjiang. It possesses 629.44km² and 430,000 population. The city is located in a temperate zone, and experiences a continental climate with longer winters and summers, and shorter springs and autumns. Yining has fertile arable land, abundant water, vast grasslands and mineral resources, etc. There are 34 minorities living in Yining. The city's multicultural diversity is reflected in its traditional activities such as the Dance of Uighur, Beilun Dance (from Xibo), Tita Dance (from Russia) and Horse Race (from the Kazakhs).
