Brief city overview: Located in southern China, close to the border with Myanmar. Volcanic rocks of this district were originally divided into three distinct groups; Deformed Tertiary andesites, Late Pliocene to Pleistocene olivine-basalts, and modern. Later investigations recognised five stages of volcanism, ranging in age from Early Pliocene to Late Holocene.
